Eggs.
Celebrating the small things.
For the last few years, my diet has been extremely restricted due to digestive issues. Almost every day, breakfast has been oatmeal, buckwheat, or sometimes just einkorn crackers. Not having a gallbladder, on top of severe liver damage, has made eating a challenge, especially when it comes to fats and proteins. I’ve grown accustomed to taking digestive enzymes to help, but there have still been foods I couldn’t tolerate, including milk, cheese, wheat, and, until recently, eggs.
We found a different brand of digestive enzymes that seems to be more effective, and I finally got brave enough to try eggs for breakfast the other day. I prayed that they wouldn’t upset my stomach because I desperately needed something more nourishing and, to be honest, a change of scenery. I love warm cereals, but after years straight, it was starting to look like manna.
I am so thankful and happy to report that I didn’t experience any discomfort, and I even ate them again today. A small thing, perhaps, but a giant mountain for me. My next prayer is to be able to tolerate raw dairy again.
As for other health updates and specific prayer needs, my recent lab work has continued to trend ever so slightly in a positive direction. The changes are small, but I’m thankful they’re moving in the right direction. I’m also looking toward another alpha lipoic acid treatment sometime this winter.
On the not-so-good side, I continue to accumulate a lot of abdominal fluid, and rather quickly. The fluid can be drained through an outpatient procedure called paracentesis, but I do not handle the big needles and having things inserted into my abdomen very well. It causes intense anxiety like I’ve only experienced in medical or dental situations. So I would like prayer specifically for this, as it’s very likely I’ll need another one soon. I pray that the fluid will stop piling on so quickly and that, until it does, there can be a less traumatic way to relieve it.
In addition to the fluid buildup, I’ve now developed an umbilical hernia. Thankfully, the scan showed that it contains fat tissue rather than intestines, but it’s still causing pain and discomfort. I’m also unable to pick up my son, Josiah, or lift anything too heavy. The more fluid that builds up, the worse the hernia bothers me, adding to the need to have it drained again. Please pray that Yah would heal this specifically so I can move around more comfortably and pick up my little boy.
I am very thankful for my husband and community during this season. I know I’ve said it before, but if it weren’t for them, I’m not sure what I would do. I’m thankful for Adam’s sacrifices as a husband and father to pick up the slack while I’m struggling. He’s carrying so much of both roles right now, and I hate that I haven’t been able to do more to help. But it has been beautiful and inspiring to see him love and care for our kids, from sunup through all hours of the night. He stands by my side and helps me stay grounded and keep my faith strong.
I’m also so thankful for “Ms. Cole,” our sister who has stepped up and been the perfect helper with Josiah. She’s patient and kind while being just as firm as he needs. I know Abba sees my needs and has His hand on me.
I’ll keep this entry short and sweet, just like the title. Thank you, Yah, for eggs, and thank you for my life.
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of Elohim in Yahusha Ha’Mashiach concerning you.”
