One Body, One Spirit.
I continue to be so humbled and grateful every time I open social media and see another person praying and/or fasting for my health, often people I do not even know.
We have seen people who do not even really like us choose to lay down their differences for the sake of praying with the body for my healing. We have also seen YHWH doing a sifting of hearts through this situation. How can one claim to follow YHWH while rejoicing in the calamity of another? We pray for those hearts too. It truly makes me sad to see people so wounded and unhappy that they project that kind of behavior onto others.
I have had a few people mention the story of the woman reaching for Messiah’s tzitzit for healing, and it made me think: where do I see the most physical representation of Yahusha Messiah on this earth? The answer has become abundantly clear to me.
I see Messiah in the called-out assembly, living through each and every person who has laid down their own lives, comforts, time, and resources to intercede for my health. I see Him in people who are fully dedicated to doing Yah’s will, no matter what that looks like.
And it goes beyond just this situation. Seeing faith lived out loud through so many of you has been nothing short of inspiring to me this week.
With that being said, I would also like to ask that while everyone is praying for healing, please remember sister Theresa and brother Scott in your prayers as well. They are also part of our local community here and are facing serious, life-threatening illnesses. There are so many in the body suffering in this way.
May this be the time when YHWH sends His Spirit down again, like in the book of Acts. May there be healing and restoration in the body of Messiah. May we continue to be echad, one, in mind and spirit, furthering the gospel of peace and truth, and ministering to the lost.
I know a lot of people in the “Torah Movement” have gotten a bad taste of fellowship, or have only experienced the nasty side of the online community. Prior to this experience, many of my online interactions would have completely turned me away from this walk and from ever desiring fellowship. We have also experienced some of our hardest trials and heartaches through in-person fellowship.
But regardless of all of that, I have also experienced enough of the good in Yah’s people, and the love they have for one another, to know that this is how it is supposed to be. I searched the world for love. I looked in every corner, from the church to the streets. I tried to fill the voids with money, drugs, relationships, and anything else I thought might satisfy, but nothing was ever enough. Now, fulfillment in life and shalom that passes all understanding has finally been found.
I am overwhelmed by the love shown not only by our local community, but by the online body as well. Brothers and sisters have stepped in and sponsored the costs of supplements and other health needs for the next several months. A way has also been provided for me to see a natural health specialist who is highly experienced with the rare condition I am battling. These are things we could never have done without Yah providing through His people.
My neighbors have stepped in to help prepare meals and make sure I am eating enough. They have helped with cleaning tasks that are physically demanding. They have simply stepped in and played with my busy toddler so I do not have to chase him across the property for hours. So many small things that are actually huge blessings.
I may be rambling at this point, but I had a lot on my mind this morning regarding gratitude. I also wanted to share how encouraging you all have been, and to encourage others who may have had negative experiences with the Torah-observant online or in-person community.
Maybe you have not found your tribe yet. Do not give up. It is so important, and it is how we were designed to operate: as one body.
I also want to exhort the body to remember this situation and treat all of our brothers and sisters with this amount of love and care. I am nobody special. I am just your sister. Please do not stop this momentum of spiritually offering up your lives for the sake of the brethren. Share in the comments how myself and others can pray for you.
“I therefore, the prisoner of the Master, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Master, one faith, one baptism, one Elohim and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
Ephesians 4:1-6 KJV
